Hyalite Reservoir

Hyalite Reservoir is a popular recreation spot located in the Gallatin National Forest near Bozeman, Montana. The reservoir was created in 1907 by the construction of a dam on Hyalite Creek and is currently owned and operated by the city of Bozeman.
The reservoir is a popular destination for fishing, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, and other water-based activities. The surrounding area is also great for hiking, camping, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. Visitors can see a variety of wildlife in the area, including deer, moose, elk, black bears, and grizzly bears.
Hyalite Reservoir is also home to the Hyalite Creek Trail, a popular hiking trail that leads to several beautiful waterfalls, including Grotto Falls, Palisade Falls, and Champagne Falls. The trail also offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The reservoir is open year-round, but some activities are limited during the winter months due to snow and ice. Visitors can access the reservoir by a paved road that is open from May through November, weather permitting.
